As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, celebrating the 75 anniversary of India’s Independence, the Govt. of India had initiated the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign throughout the whole of India between the 13th – 15th August, 2022.  Following the directive of the Central Government, the Mizoram Government has also conducted the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in Mizoram.  Being the nodal department, the Art & culture Department, Govt. of Mizoram took immediate actions as soon as it received notification for the campaign in May, 2022.  Under the Secretary, Art & Culture Department, Govt. of Mizoram the Organizing Committee had its first meeting on 5th June, 2022.  And in this meeting different departments were given various roles and responsibilities.

 The Art & Culture Department of Mizoram had ordered 2,00,000 (Two lakhs) flags from a Firm in Kolkata by the name of M/S SAKSHAM.  The flags were then distributed to all the 11 Districts of Mizoram by the Department as follows :

  1. Serchhip District           -  8,000  
  2. Hnahthial District          -  6,000
  3. Lunglei District              -  29,000
  4. Lawngtlai District          -  11,000
  5. Siaha District                -  11,700
  6. Saitual District              -  12,000
  7. Khawzawl District        -   7,000
  8. Champhai District        -   20,000
  9. Mamit District               -  8,000
  10. Kolasib District             -  10,600
  11. Aizawl District              -  76,700

Every D.C. Office was given responsibility to effectively organize the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in their respective districts.  Further, District level Coordination Committees were set up in each district.  These committees worked diligently so that the campaign could succeed in Mizoram.

 Fair Price Shops / Retailers throughout the State were used as selling point for the flags, which were sold at Rs. 20/- per flag.  Besides the Fair Price Shops, within the city of Aizawl, selling outlets were set up at various locations.  Further, flags were given to the Aizawl Municipal Corporation to be sold by the Local Council.  Banners/ Posters were also hung at different places.  Publicity campaign were also organized using different modes of media.   Further, the public was urged to raise the flags in their homes via the Information Centre at every locality.

 The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was a great success inside Mizoram.   The National Flag was hoisted at houses, Schools, Offices and various other locations.  Walkathons were also organized at various places in the name of the campaign.

 The people of Mizoram connected with purpose of the Central Government’s Har Ghar Tiranga campaign  which is to imbibe a sense of unity, oneness and belongingness as a nation under one flag.  Further, the campaign also succeeded in raising awareness about the historic legacy of the Tiranga among the masses.
