Discover North East Yatra - Mizoram programme was successfully organised by NEZCC, Dimapur and Art & Culture Department, Mizoram during February 8 -10, 2016 at Lunglei and in various neighbouring villages. Discover North East Programme was framed to unite various tribes of North East and exhibit their different cultures through different activities. Cultural Troupes from - Assam, Nagaland and Jammu & Kashmir besides two (2) Cultural Troupes each from Mizoram presented cultural dances at the two venues.

The first programme of the Discover North East Yatra - Mizoram was held at Vanhne village, 35 minutes drive from Lunglei. The village though thinly populated is older than most villages of the state. The inhabitants of Vanhne eagerly welcomed the programme and therefore was a great success.

The second day of the Discover North East Yatra - Mizoram programme was held Hauruang village, 45 minutes drive from Lunglei. This village too, though not densely populated, is an aged one. The people of the village enthusiastically welcomed the programme, and stated their gratitude for the opportunity given.

The third and final programme was held at Saikuti Hall, Lunglei. Though the heavy rain made it inconvenient for some school children to respond to the invitation to join the programme, quite a number of school children from 3 schools participated.

The Nagaland Troupe reached Aizawl on February, 2016 (sat) morning, halted as scheduled and Troupes from Assam and Jammu & Kashmir reached on February 7, 2016 (Sun) at Aizawl and had lunch there. The Troupes started the journey to Lunglei at 2:00 p.m. riding buses and reached Lunglei at 9:15 p.m. Though the expected troupes from 6 states were to be put up in Tourist Lodge and 2 other Hotels, all the participating Cultural Troupes were accammodated in the Tourist Lodge and the Hotels remained cancelled. The three absentee Cultural Troupes were Karnataka, Gujarat and Sikkim. That the Discover North East Yatra - Mizoram was hosted in Lunglei and the neighbouring villages who will willing host yet other programmes in the future, is highly appreciated, and gratitude goes to NEZCC, Dimapur for organising such a programme. The people of host-villages and Lunglei feel fortunate and enriched to witness such charming, and new, cultural performances. The participating Cultural Troupes left Lunglei for Aizawl on February 11, 2016 (Thu) in the morning, reached Aizawl at around 2:15 p.m. and departed the same evening for Guwahati by Bus and Sumo service. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to NEZCC Officials Miss Temsunaro, Research Officer and Mr. P Yanger Lemtor whose earnest, diligent services helped the Programme be a success as did Art & Culture Department who were given the task of video and still coverage.
