The Father of Chawngchilhi

In today’s world, there is a great need for fathers who have the courage to discipline and restrain their children when they fall into wrongdoing.

When Chawngchilhi’s father discovered that his daughter was in a relationship with a snake, had slept with it, and was even carrying its offspring, he looked beyond his personal feelings for her. He considered the future trouble and danger she might bring upon others. Consequently, he struck his own daughter dead and proceeded to destroy the numerous young snakes found within her.

Rather than condemning him for his actions against his daughter, we can see this as an act of bravery—positioning him as a protector of the community against a looming threat.
