Because our ancestors lived in a world caught between fierce wild beasts and rival human warriors, the Pasaltha were held in the highest esteem and were of utmost importance. Possessing a brave Pasaltha provided a profound sense of security for the Chief (Lal) and all the villagers. They were especially vital to the women, children, and the elderly; it could be said that the very strength of a village’s defense rested entirely upon the shoulders of their warriors. Their courage and greatness, which far exceeded that of ordinary men, will continue to be praised and recounted even after many generations have passed.
